photo credit: mrnoy9n A good backswing is the foundation for consistently good golf shots. Too many amateurs don't concentrate enough on their backswing, they focus more on their downswing in order to hit the ball correctly. That kind of thinking can be detrimental to your game.
If the backswing is not executed properly, you can't expect much from the downswing. A good beginning (backswing) is the key. 1.) Start your club back with your shoulders, not your hands. 2.) At the 8 o'clock position the butt end of the club should point at the middle of your back thigh.
DRILL: Choke down on the shaft until the butt end of your club rests in your naval, now turn your stomach and club away together. This move replicates the actual backswing sequence.
